Come Find Out!!!

EEEEK!!!!! OUR “DEADLINE” for issue 14 is tomorrow! But we won’t kill you if it’s a bit late, as we’ve been pretty busy ourselves! So for the dilly-dalliers of the world, take NOVEMBER 10 (that’s 9 whole extra days) as yr last chance to get in the zine so it can be ready for East Bay Alternative Book And Zine Fest 2016!

If you need reminding, here is the prompt: 

HERE ARE THE CHALLENGES FOR OUR NEXT ZINE FOR YOU TO DO! :)

HIT US UP IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!

and don’t forget to HAVE FUN >:)

1 take a selfie with a stranger on the street

2 draw yr feet

3 write yr childhood pet a letter

4 design yr ideal tombstone

5 write something with found words outside

6 draw yr boss (or closest thing to that) from real life–bonus points if you ask them to pose)

7 find and document a “doggelganger” (dog-human lookalike duo)

8 get a stranger to draw you–exchange portraits?

9 find a significant spot you used to hang out at on google maps and make us a map of it

10 make an impromptu meal at yr friend’s house and write a review

11 call someone you haven’t talked to in a few years–keep a notepad nearby and scan the doodles

12 make a comic about a celebrity encounter you once had

13 design yr personal flag and explain the iconography

14 make a comic out of the story everyone likes to tell about you that you find really embarassing

Hooooowee!! Zine fest was a blasteroid, thanks to everyone who came out!! Thanks especially to Jeanne for her nice pants, Sayuri for her chillness and Amos for his bubbly presence and bountiful breads!

Now that we’ve passed the treacherous threshold of #13, we’re ready to saunter on to #14!

This issue will be ACTIVE in it’s content and execution–a mix between a scavenger hunt and a choose yr own adventure and pages from yr friend’s diary that you flip through nervously while they’re in the bathroom.

Dear Darlings!

We are pleased to announce that Come Find Out/Lemon Drop Press has been selected to be part of the  L.A. Zine Fest! The event takes place on March 6, it’s FREE, and there are a bunch of rad people tabling and presenting that we are stoked to soon breathe the same air as.

We are hustling our booties to get the 13th issue of Come Find Out printed and primed for this event, so if you are in the area (or feel like taking a road trip from wherever you are), come get a fresh hot copy! We will also have the latest issues, cool jewelry and crafts, posters, all kinds of goodies. It’s going to be a gas!

Hey! We will be speaking at this event in San Mateo Tonight talking about zines, self-publishing and the radness that ensues! 

There’s some really great folks getting the zine scene started over there, and you should come and see what it’s all about!! 

Here’s the event on FB, or the basic info below:

“Come for an informal zine reading and show & tell at The Shop at Flywheel Press on Tuesday, February 23, 7-9pm. Zines - fanzines or DIY magazines, traditionally photocopied and stapled for cheap and easy distribution - bring out the quirky and the powerful in people. This reading will include an eclectic assortment of poetry, fiction, comics, illustration & photography. Zines will also be for sale or bring your own to trade.” 

Here’s the nitty gritty for our upcoming 13th issue “Spell Book” :

Dimensions: Legal (8.5 x 14), Horizontal format!

Black and white, 300 dpi (at least), tiff preferably

Due Date: Jan 31st (but let us know if you’re working on something great and need more time)

Be sure to include: 

-yr name

-title of yr piece

-yr website

-yr mailing address (so we can send you a copy if we include yr work!)

Open to all media and contributors, be ye male female goblin or naiad, your tenebrous talents are all that count (dracula)!
